Northern Law Awards Finalists 2019

Latest News

Once again, TLW Solicitors has been successful in reaching the finals of the Northern Law Awards, to be held at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on 6th June 2019.

TLW Solicitors are Finalists in three categories:

Law Firm of the Year (1-5 Partners)

As 2016 and 2018 winners in this category, TLW are no strangers to the rigours of Judging Day, being held this year on 24th April. Developing new areas of work, robust business performance and a client-centric focus were what stood out for the judges last year, something that TLW continues to build on.

Director John Burn said, “It is great for our team’s hard work and dedication to be recognised once again.  A lot goes on behind the scenes to ensure we manage their wellbeing, as well as the financial security of the firm and excellent service for our clients.”

Law Practice Management

TLW’s Claire Thornton is Office Manager, HR Manager and all-round multitasker!  Her passion and ability to look after the office and everyone in it, has earned her a place amongst this year’s Finalists in this category.  Claire’s skills include detailed business reporting and compliance, whilst also maintaining the highest levels of client care and championing flexible working practices for her colleagues.

Commenting on reaching this year’s final,

Claire said, “I was a Finalist in the same category last year and I’m honoured to have been shortlisted again this year.  My role at TLW is varied, but I love the challenges each day brings.  I’m passionate about what I do and can’t wait for the Awards night.”

Team of the Year: Litigation and Dispute Resolution – TLW’s Solar Panel Mis-selling Team

TLW’s newest team specialises in complex solar panel mis-selling claims and are thrilled to be Finalists at this year’s awards. The team has grown from a handful of cases to becoming one of the busiest within the firm.  Solar panel mis-selling has been all too common, with clients promised that the systems would be ‘self-funding’ or ‘pay for itself’ within a few years.

Director, Peter McKenna said, “TLW has diversified recently in line with the changing needs of our clients.  We are focusing more on financial mis-selling and solar panel claims – we have found that poor advice can result in serious financial losses and leave often elderly and vulnerable clients feeling helpless and let down.”

Many of the firms selling solar panel systems went out of business, leaving customers wondering if they’d ever get their money back. Despite this, the TLW solar team has successfully claimed against several major financial institutions – the companies who provided finance agreements for mis-sold solar panel systems.

Having the support and experienced team of litigation specialists has meant success for many individuals who otherwise wouldn’t have had a voice.

Fingers crossed for Judging Day later in the month!
