How to get out of your Timeshare Contract

Timeshares News

While it is true that a timeshare contract is a binding legal document, it is often mistakenly thought that such a contract cannot be cancelled. In fact, most timeshare companies maintain that their contracts cannot be cancelled.

This misconception is perpetuated not only by timeshare companies but user groups that are funded, maintained and controlled by the timeshare industry.

The truth of the matter is that under the law, contracts are cancellable for a variety of reasons, including fraud, financial mis-selling, mistakes and unfairness.

The timeshare release options you have will depend on where and when you purchased your timeshare, the marketing, selling process and paperwork. Even though you may have been told differently in the past, you may be entitled to sell your timeshare or have a case for timeshare compensation.

TIMESHARE CANCELLATION

There are numerous fraudulent companies offering to “relieve” you of your timeshare liability. You may end up many thousands of pounds poorer and still own the timeshare.

Even if you do actually find a buyer, some resorts refuse to effect a transfer because they “don’t like the buyer” or give some other spurious reason. Whilst this may be illegal in some contracts, it may be impossible to sell your timeshare quickly. In some cases the resort may kill the sale by imposing an exorbitant “transfer fee”.

Your resort/club may offer you a deal to get out. You pay them a lot more, money and they promise to release you from the continuing obligation to pay. Our timeshare solicitors are here to help on a no win, no fee basis.
