TLW welcomes workplace menopause training

Latest News

Members of the TLW team are looking forward to a training session to be delivered by menopause mentor and trainer, Catherine Harland, on 17th January 2023.

Menopause affects over half the UK population directly but can have an impact on everyone. This is particularly significant in the workplace where it is estimated that eight out of ten of those going through menopause are currently employed.

Viewed as a ‘taboo’ subject, menopausal women can often feel anxious about discussing their symptoms or how they might be impacting their work. In response, managers may be unaware of subtle signs of the impact of the menopause on their team and in turn, don’t know how to support them.

The management team at TLW Solicitors is taking active steps in response to these challenges by inviting menopause mentor and trainer, Catherine Harland to deliver a session at the firm’s office. Catherine’s sessions include educational, interactive workshops for managers, HR and team leaders, to enhance understanding of the menopause and develop a clearer understanding of how menopause can affect colleagues. Catherine’s training will explore how colleagues facing challenging symptoms can be supported in the workplace as well as debunking some common myths.

Catherine trained as a menopause coach with The Menopause School, after experiencing her own debilitating symptoms whilst working in the corporate world at board level.

Commenting on being invited to deliver the training, Catherine said:

“My aim is to support organisations as they can face testing situations when employees are struggling with challenging symptoms. I’m delighted to be working with TLW Solicitors. We’ll be discussing how to open sensitive conversations, how to support the challenge employees face and a whole lot more.”

Looking forward to Catherine’s training, TLW Solicitors’ Partner, Peter McKenna, said:

“Menopause is something we shouldn’t feel embarrassed talking about. We want to be able to support our colleagues as they go through the different phases of their lives and ensure that they are able to stay and feel comfortable in the jobs they spent years building up experience in.”
