Emily Barr

Emily qualified in 2008, having carried out her training contract at Thompsons Law Firm in Newcastle, a Legal 500 Firm.  Emily specialised in complex multi-claimant equal pay litigation, where she gained a strong grounding in employment law and the employment tribunal system. Most notably, Emily was heavily involved in Equal Pay cases against the NHS.

Since joining TLW in 2016 Emily has acted for both individuals and businesses on complex, high value matters including professional negligence and breach of duty claims.

Emily can assist on all employment law matters, including redundancy, dismissal, discrimination and settlement agreements, including those that are complex. Emily can act for both employers and individuals.

Whilst being extremely tenacious in her approach to getting the best outcomes for her clients, she remains approachable and empathic.

In 2022 Emily appeared on the BBC Morning Live documentary, following her appearance on the series ‘Northern Justice’.  Emily was instructed to act for a British Army veteran in his claim against the Ministry of Defence. Emily achieved a successful outcome for her client, after a 6 yearlong battle to get justice.

Emily is a member of The Employment Lawyers Association.
