Around 7000 women in the UK are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer every year and prognosis of the disease is often delayed as symptoms can be difficult to detect often going unnoticed. Worryingly, only 3% of women know the symptoms to look out for, with diagnosis usually in the later stage when the cancer has already spread.

Christina Batson, Head of Clinical Negligence at TLW Solicitors said;

‘It’s vital that women are aware of the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, it’s vital healthcare practitioners can recognise the signs and symptoms whilst placing a stronger emphasis on vigilant screening’.

Symptoms to look out for include:

  • Increased abdominal size/Persistent bloating
  • Difficulty eating/Feeling Full
  • Pelvic or Abdominal pain
  • Needing to urinate more frequently/ more urgently

Other symptoms often acknowledged include unexpected weight loss, change in bowel habits and extreme fatigue.
