Former shipyard worker recovers compensation for asbestos related illness
18/02/2008
TLW Solicitors have recently agreed a compensation settlement for an 83 year old former shipyard worker.
Throughout his many years working within the shipbuilding industry our client was exposed to asbestos on an almost daily basis. Unfortunately, as was common place at the time, our client was not given any sort of protective equipment to prevent him from inhaling asbestos fibres and as a result has developed a condition known as pleural thickening which is caused by exposure to asbestos and affects the lungs of suffers making breathing more difficult.
Even though our client was exposed to asbestos by four different employers and his exposure stretched back over 40 years we were still able to obtain compensation for him.
